"I never could imagined the beauty of Gotera. The incredible mountains, amazing waterfalls, and the beautiful Faith-filled spirit of the people. Gotera sums up everything that life is about. I feel that I've learned more life lessons in one week than some do in an entire lifetime. When I reflect on my time in El Salvador, the word that comes to mind most would be simplicity. I hope to forever carry with me simplicity in my home and family life, because I can honestly say I've never been happier." - Sara D. | |||||||
| "Going to El Salvador was a bit nerve racking. I didn't know what to expect. When I got there, I got more than I bargained for. The people showed me so much. They showed me that money isn't everything...it's about who you're with and how you spend your time with that person. What touched me the most was fitting the children and seeing their smiles and their parents smiles. Each one of those people touched my heart. The Sisters and the Padres are the most kind and welcoming people. I will always remember the kindness and love those people showed me. To them I'm thankful for all they did for us." - Elizabeth M. | ||||||||
| "God's work is being done everyday by our sister parish in Gotera. I went to help those less fortunate in El Salvador and I left with more in return than I could have ever imagined." - Dan R. | ||||||||
| "I'll never forget the look of pure joy on the faces of those we fit with hearing aids. As I turned on the devices and adjusted the volume, I watched as both the young and the old were able to hear for the first time in a long time. I went there with the mentality that we would be ministering to them and bring them aid and supplies (which we did), but they taught us the meaning of true happiness. I brought home so much more than I took there." - Mary M. | ||||||||
| "My experience in Gotera was wonderful because the people there are so down to earth and thankful for everything they have. They taught me that it doesn't matter what you wear or how you look, but more about your personality and who you really are. When I was fitting people with hearing aids, I would look around and just see everyone working, and the smile on everyone's face when they could hear better." - Carrie P. | ||||||||
