Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
My Dear Friends in Christ,

Today is Corpus Christi! We celebrate on this day the great gift of
the Eucharist which is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus
Christ. What a great gift of God's love for us. Do we, as Catholics, realize this
great gift to the Church? At times we become too familiar and forget who we are
privileged to have in the Tabernacle in all our Churches throughout the world.
Could our time in Church be a time of prayer and worship of
our triune God who is embodied in all our Churches
throughout the world?
Our worship generally has become very chatty, to the
point where one of the challenges now is to allow silence to
play its part in the liturgy. This might begin with our arrival or departure into
Church each day. Where once our churches were places of silence for the sake of
prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, the custom has arisen in more recent years for people to
talk freely in the churches, certainly before and after Mass. I wonder would it be possible to encourage
each other to establish an air of silence or at least quiet to make our church a place where
there is a silence which supports prayer. Of course there are times when one has to talk in the
sacristy or the church, but it is a question of the prevailing atmosphere. In that sense, I am
speaking more about prayer than about silence for its own sake.
What a wonderful celebration we had at the International Mass and Lunch
following. It was impressive to see how many cultures and nationalities
we have as part of our parish family. Truly it was a powerful reminder to
all of us of our unity in Christ. We are truly blessed being part of this
parish family and I am blessed hundredfold being you pastor. Again I
thank everyone who so willingly participated in this event whether it was in the
liturgy or by bringing a dish to share of your native foods. A great time was had
by all. Hopefully this can become an annual event in our parish.

I want to congratulate all of our 8
th
graders who will be graduating this Thursday.
We pray that the values received and learning they have done during their time
with us will aid them in their high school experience. I thank
Sr. Veronica, SSND, our principal, and all the dedicated faculty
and staff of our Catholic School for their hard work, time and
talent that they share with our school children.
Praised Be Jesus Christ!

TRUST IN JESUS
Today's feast celebrates another central mystery of our faith--
the mystery of the Eucharist. Like the mystery of the Trinity, the
real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist can
never be fully understood, but can only be believed. Just as the
Israelites in the desert were invited
to put their trust in God's word to
them, we are invited to trust
wholly in the word of Jesus. In
today's Gospel Jesus promises to
give us a share in his very own
flesh and blood, and a share in
eternal life besides. We are called
to take him at his word and open
our hearts to receive true
nourishment and life from our
participation in the Eucharist.

Renewal of the Consecration of the Family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Most sweet Jesus, humbly kneeling at Thy feet, we renew the consecration of our family
to Thy Divine Heart. Be Thou our King forever! In Thee we have full and entire confidence.
May Thy spirit penetrate our thoughts, our desires, our words and our works.
Bless our undertakings, share in our joys, in our trials and in our labors.
Grant us to know Thee better, to love Thee more, to serve Thee without faltering.
By the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Peace, set up Thy kingdom in our country.
Enter closely into the midst of our families and make them Thine own through the solemn
enthronement of Thy Sacred Heart, so that soon one cry may resound from home to home:
"May the triumphant Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved, blessed and glorified forever!"
Honor and glory to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary!

Diocesan Announcements
Solemnity of
The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Observed on the Friday following the
Second Sunday after Pentecost
"We the Christians are the true Israel
which springs from Christ, for we are
carved out of His heart as from a rock."
-- St. Justin Martyr (d. 165)
"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of
me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls."
-- Matthew 11:29
"There is in the Sacred Heart the
symbol and express image of the
infinite love of Jesus Christ which
moves us to love in return."
-- Pope Leo XIII
Devotion to the Sacred Heart has two elements:
Consecration and Reparation
We consecrate ourselves to the Sacred Heart by
acknowledging Him as Creator and Redeemer and as
having full rights over us as King of Kings, by repenting,
and by resolving to serve Him.
We make reparations for the indifference and ingratitude
with which He is treated and for leaving Him abandoned
by humanity.
The heart has always been seen as the "center" or essence of a
person ("the heart of the matter,"
"you are my heart," "take it to
heart," etc.) and the wellspring of
our emotional lives and love ("you
break my heart," "my heart sings,"
etc.) Devotion to the Sacred Heart
of Jesus is devotion to Jesus Christ
Himself, but in the particular ways
of meditating on His interior life
and on His threefold love His
divine love, His burning love that
fed His human will, and His
sensible love that affects His
interior life.
